AGU membership encompasses more than 50,000 individuals from over 135 countries. The goal of AGU membership is to unite Earth, atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic, space, and planetary scientists by providing a dynamic forum for the geophysical community through scientific journals, meetings, electronic mail, a weekly newspaper, scientific and technical committee activities, and several online data and information services.

Membership and subscriptions are on a calendar year basis. Applications received after 1 October will be effective as of 1 January of the following year unless otherwise requested. Payment online may be made using Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
